Police have arrested a man with a sword after a seven-hour stand off in Durrington yesterday (July 12).

Officers were called to a domestic incident at a house in Rochester Close in Durrington just before midday.

Police were responding to reports of a man in a garden armed with a sword.

Officers cordoned off the surrounding area and public safety officers spent several hours negotiating with the man.

Police were able to secure both him and the weapon at around 7.20pm.

There were no reports of injuries.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of affray and is currently in police custody.
