A man has escaped with hundreds of pounds after robbing a convenience store in St Leonards.

Sussex Police said two members of staff and a customer were confronted by a man wielding a large knife at the One Stop store in Blackman Avenue in St Leonards.

The incident took place at shortly before 10pm on Monday (July, 10).

He demanded money from a safe, and was handed several hundreds of pounds in a plastic bag.

The suspect then left the store along Blackman Avenue in a southerly direction, towards Ironlatch Avenue.

Police have described the suspect as white, slim, in his mid-20s, 5’10” and wearing glasses with small rectangular lenses.

He was dressed in a black zip-up hooded coat or jacket with the hood up and his face hidden so that only his eyes and nose were visible.

He was also wearing dark trousers.

Sussex Police are appealing for witnesses.
