Police are looking for a man who stole car keys from a property in Ringmer and made off with a newly-registered BMW worth around £50,000.

Sussex Police were called around 2.50pm yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, 25) following the incident in Lewes Road where the light blue coloured vehicle was taken.

It was then spotted travelling north on the M23, passing into Surrey and then onto the M25, where it was pursued by officers and a police helicopter.

Around 3.35pm, the car stopped at Walton-on-the-Hill in Surrey, when the driver got out, running on foot.

Police said they failed to find him in a search, and officers are now appealing for any witnesses to the chain to come forward.

The suspect is described as a white man in his late 20s, and was wearing a white shirt and a white baseball cap.

He may have been accompanied by another man.
