Two people have died, after a group of pedestrians were hit by a car in Ringmer on Saturday (September, 9).

A Nissan Pathfinder 4×4 crashed into the group, who were walking along Harvey’s Lane just off the B2192 shortly after 8pm.

A man from Wimbledon in South West London and a man from Tunbridge Wells, both aged 31, died at the scene.

A 29-year-old woman from Wimbledon and a 27-year-old from Addlestone in Surrey were treated for minor injuries at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

They have since been discharged from hospital.

The other three pedestrians in the group, a 29-year-old man from Addlestone, a 24-year-old woman from Morden and a 31-year old woman from Sutton, both in south London, were unhurt.

The driver of the car, 37-year-old woman from Uckfield, was also uninjured.

Sergeant Huw Watts of the Surrey and Sussex Road Policing Unit said:

“If anyone has any dash cam footage or CCTV, relating to this incident, we would be particularly interested to hear from them.”
