A Bexhill man has been jailed for the rape of a young boy in the town.
John Knight, 66, of Kingscott Close, was sentenced after being convicted of the offence, which happened in 2013.
He has also been convicted for possessing extreme pornographic images, and has been sentenced to eight years in prison.
Police said the images, which are not of the boy or any other children, were found at Knight’s address which was searched after he was arrested.
Detective Constable Kelly Buck of the East Sussex Safeguarding Investigations Unit said:
“As Knight pleaded not guilty the victim had to give evidence in the trial and although he was able to do so on the basis of a video-recording he was still cross-examined and we admire his strength of character in being prepared to do this.”
Knight will be a registered sex offender for life and was also given a Sexual Offence Prevention Order (SHPO) severely restricting his access to children and computers.
