Firefighters have been out in force tackling two large barn fires in East and West Sussex.

Six fire crews have been battling a fire at a farm in Burgess Hill all night (13th September).

The large fire broke out at a barn on St George’s Park Farm, in Ditchling Road, just before 7pm last night.

Meanwhile, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service were called at 6.55pm to reports of a barn fire in North Chailey.

As of 8pm six fire engines were at the scene there.

Two from Haywards Heath and one each from Barcombe, Lewes, Uckfield and Burgess Hill were called.

The control unit from Lewes and the water carrier from Uckfield were also in attendance.

There were no reports of any injuries at either fire, and the fire service said it did not have to make any rescues.

Some crews remain at the scene in Burgess Hill this morning dampening down.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said an investigation will be launched into the cause of the fire.
