A new retailer has been announced as part of the £85 million extension at the Arndale Centre in Eastbourne.

Shoe company Schuh is taking up a two-floor unit at the 170,000 sq ft development, funded by the centre’s owners Legal and General.

Other retailers to have signed up for spaces include Nando’s, Next, Cineworld, H&M, New Look, Wagamama and Chiquito.

Neil Crawford, head of retail & leisure development for LGIM Real Assets, said:

“The Arndale Centre is set to transform the retail and leisure experience in Eastbourne and we are pleased with the pace that construction work is progressing.

“This new letting to Schuh demonstrates the strength of the centre as a retail destination as the scheme is now 70 per cent pre-let.”

The extension is set to bring an addition 22 units to the centre, along with seven restaurants and a nine-screen cinema, according to Legal and General.

Construction work began on the development in January.
