A playground at Alexandra Park in Hastings has now reopened, after repairs were made to the vandalised timber framework.

Over 100 timber posts had been pulled out of the ground, or were snapped in half, while there was also damage to the soft flooring areas.

The borough council said the cost of repairs came to over £10,000, while the upper section of the park was closed for over a month.

Councillor Colin Fitzgerald, lead member for environment said:

“As one of the council’s most popular children’s playgrounds, such vandalism was particularly upsetting for the many children locally who enjoy playing in Alexandra Park and use it as a place for fresh air and exercise.”
