Police are investigating after a 21-year-old man from Battle was attacked and robbed of his valuables while walking in the town.

The victim was on the path leading from Marley Lane near to the level crossing, and was heading towards Coronation Gardens, when he was approached by a group of people.

He was attacked, causing him to fall to the ground, and the group got away with his mobile phone, driving licence, cash and a distinctive Louis Vuitton card holder.

Police said the victim was left shaken but unhurt following the incident, which happened around 12.20am in the early hours of Saturday morning (January, 6).

Officers said one of the group is believed to have been wearing a red Adidas hoody with stripes down the arm.

Police want to hear from anyone who may have seen what happened, in particular a group of four people believed to have been waiting at the level crossing when the incident occured, and who may have witnessed it.
