A baby girl has died following a collision between two cars near Wisborough Green.

A young boy has also been airlifted to hospital with life-threatening head injuries following the incident at Newpound Common just before 4.20pm yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, 10).

The incident involved a Vauxhall Corsa, and a Mazda3, which the baby and boy were both passengers in.

The seven-month-old girl was taken to Worthing Hospital, where she died later that day.

The five-year-old boy was airlifted to St George’s Hospital at Tooting, where he remained yesterday evening in a critical condition.

A 27-year-old woman, also a passenger in the Mazda, was taken to hospital in London with serious leg injuries.

The 31-year-old driver suffered minor injuries.

Police said all of the occupants are from Pulborough.

The driver of the Corsa, a 36-year-old man also from Pulborough, was left with serious chest injuries and was taken to Worthing Hospital.

Police said the road was closed while rescue, recovery and collision investigation work took place, and it was reopened shortly after 10pm.
