A man who was slashed in the face with an extremely sharp blade in Hurstpierpoint has been ‘scared and distressed’, according to police.
The 23-year-old victim was walking along an access off Cuckfield Road on Friday evening (January, 19) around 5.45pm, when he was approached from behind by a man.
He was attacked and slashed across the face and hand when he refused to hand over his mobile phone and money.
The robber then ran off empty handed towards Cuckfield Road.
PC Andy Mackay said:
“The injuries, although serious, are not life-threatening, but the victim was scared and distressed.
“We would like to hear from anyone who saw this or anyone acting suspiciously in the area.”
The suspect has been described as white, 5’11” tall, and was wearing dark clothing with a hooded top pulled over his head and gloves.
