The leader of Hastings Borough Council has been selected as the Labour Party parliamentary candidate for Hastings and Rye at the next General Election.

In a post online, Peter Chowney said he was ‘pleased, honoured and privileged’ to have been chosen.

Councillor Chowney previously stood for the Labour Party at the previous election in 2017, but lost to Amber Rudd who won with a narrow majority of 346.
