Police have arrested three people in connection with three armed robberies in the Eastbourne area.

A 30-year-old woman, along with two men aged 29 and 36, remain in custody.

It follows reports of an armed robbery at a Co-op store in Coppice Avenue, Willingdon just before 7.30pm last night (Tuesday, 6).

Staff and customers were threatened by a man armed with a hammer and Taser who demanded money.

Detectives are linking this robbery with two others in Eastbourne, one at a One Stop in Winston Crescent last Thursday (February, 1), and a McColls in Holly Place on Sunday (February, 4).

In each incident, a man demanded cash from staff members.

Police said in the first incident he was armed with a knife, while in the second, a man brandished a claw hammer.

Detective Inspector Gavin Patch said:

“We were able to quickly arrest three suspects in connection with these robberies last night.

“We are still appealing for witnesses to all three robberies and would like to hear from anyone who has any information.”
