Amber Rudd has praised police for their 'swift' actions.

The home secretary has said her ‘thoughts and prayers’ are with the families and friends of two women who were shot dead at a house in St Leonards last night (Friday, 16).

A murder investigation is currently underway, after police were called to reports of a shooting in Bexhill Road just before 7.45pm.

Police said the victims were aged 32 and 53, while two other women – one of who is pregnant – were taken to hospital in shock.

Amber Rudd, who is the MP for Hastings and Rye, has praised the ‘swift’ actions of the police and other emergency services.

A 35-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody.

Police have also seized a firearm.
