A mother and daughter who died following a shooting at their home in Sussex, have been described by their family as ‘beautiful people’ who filled them with laughter.

Heather Whitebread, 53, and her daughter Michelle, 32, died following the incident in Bexhill Road on Friday night (March, 16).

In a statement, their family said:

“Heather and Michelle were both beautiful people that filled our family with laughter.

“They were both special, generous and kind people who loved life, but most of all their family.

“They will both be sorely missed, leaving a gap that can never be filled.

“We now just wish to be left to grieve in private as a family.”

Firearms officers led two other women – one who was pregnant – to safety following the incident, and both were taken to hospital suffering from shock.

A 35-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been questioned by police.
