A pedestrian from Eastbourne has been taken to hospital with facial injuries after a cyclist collided with her in the town.

The 63-year-old woman was knocked unconscious following the incident in Langney Road around 6pm on Wednesday (April, 4).

She had just stepped from a car onto the pavement when it happened, while the cyclist is believed to have been travelling on the pavement between 15mph and 20mph.

The victim was then taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital for treatment, which also included a suspected fractured left wrist.

Police said the cyclist remained at the scene for a short time, but then made off without leaving his details.

He has been described as a white man, aged around 25, and of a slim build.

He was wearing a grey hoody with the hood up, along with grey jogging bottoms, and was riding a mountain bike.

Officers are appealing for witnesses, as well as anyone who may know the cyclist, or for himself to come forward.
