A woman has been arrested in connection with an attempted robbery in Worthing.

It involved two men who were walking along Cowper Road at about 12.40am early on Friday (April, 6).

At the junction of Heene Road and Mill Road, a woman on the other side of the road asked them if they had a cigarette.

They shouted no, and continued walking along Mill Road, when two people, one possibly holding a knife, approached them and demanded their money and phones.

The victims refused to hand anything over, and ran off.

A 34-year-old woman from Lancing has been released on suspicion of attempted robbery, and possession of a class A drug.

She has been released under investigation.

Police now want to hear from anyone who may have seen the incident, or seen the woman who asked the victims for a cigarette.
