A man has been taken to hospital with serious head injuries, after he was hit in the head with what was believed to be a steering wheel lock following an assault in Brighton.

Police were called to London Road around 7.50pm on Saturday, (April, 21) following an altercation between the occupants of two vehicles.

It involved one of the men exiting his vehicle and approaching the second car, before both a verbal and physical confrontation took place.

The victim, a 37-year-old man from London, was taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening or changing injuries.

Detective Sergeant Donna Ward said:

“This was an isolated incident between two vehicles.

“The two cars were involved in a road rage incident and this has subsequently lead to a physical alteration.

“We believe there was a bus going past the two vehicles at the time of the incident.

“We are appealing for anyone on that bus or members of the public walking past to come forward with any information they may have.”

A 39-year-old man, from London, has been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent, while a 37-year-old man, also from London, has been arrested on suspicion of affray.
