Police have arrested two people in connection with a ram-raid at a Co-op store in Shoreham early this morning (Tuesday, 1).

A 4×4 had been used in an attempt to break-in to the store in the High Street around 1.30am.

However, police said attempts to gain entry were unsuccessful.

Officers then located two vehicles suspected of being involved – a Daihatsu 4×4 and a Mercedes Sprinter – on the M25.

They were boxed in by police close to Leatherhead, Surrey.

A 17-year-old boy from Woking in Surrey was arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary, failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis, driving with no licence and driving with no insurance.

A 26-year-old man from Epsom in Surrey was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop when requested to do so by a police officer, and attempted burglary.

Both remain in custody at this stage.
