Mid-Sussex police are asking local people to look out for a man in a red sports-type car.

It’s believed the man followed two separate women during an evening in Mid-Sussex.

At 10.45pm on Monday (21 May) a 24-year-old woman was walking home along Grand Avenue in Hassocks.

She became aware of the car close by, and the man called out to her.

He then made an indecent remark, which led the woman to make her way straight to a nearby house for help and the man drove off.

Another woman walking nearby mentioned to the occupants of the house she had also been followed by the man in the car.

Inspector Peter Dommett said;

“This is currently an isolated incident for the area, but local people, and in particular women walking alone at night, are reminded to continue to follow basic precautions advice about their personal safety.”

The man is described as white, in his thirties, with ginger hair and clean shaven.

Anyone with information about this incident, or about the man and the car, are asked to contact Sussex Police online or call 101, quoting serial 1324 of 21/05.
