Sussex Police say they have now concluded their investigation into a report of an attempted abduction in Hangleton on Monday (11 September).
Officers say they are satisfied that it did not take place.
More Radio had previously reported that the incident was being investigated by the force.
Chief Inspector Rachel Swinney said:
“I can fully understand that this report has caused concern, however I wish to reassure the public regarding this matter and would encourage them to also share this reassurance across our local communities.
“Prevention Youth Officers will continue to work closely with local schools.
“We take reports of this nature extremely seriously and would encourage anyone who has been a victim of crime to report it online or call us on 101, or in an emergency, dial 999.”
