East Sussex’s Drusillas Park is marking International Red Panda Day today (Saturday) by feeding their furry charges with Panda Cake.

Far from being filled with cream and chocolate, the cakes contain essential vitamins and minerals as well as a high level of fibre and they will be a treat compared to the animals’ usual diet of bamboo.

Watch Drusillas Park’s red pandas in action:

Red pandas have been at Drusillas Park since 2013, but in the wild they live in the Himalayan mountains, where they are threatened by habitat destruction and hunting.

They are now listed as endangered species.
