Brighton’s silent disco Halloween beach clean is on this Sunday (October, 28).

Organisers, Pier 2 Pier Beach Clean and Surfers Against Sewage in Brighton, Hove and Shoreham are inviting people to come along between 11am – 2pm.

Dressed up as ghosts and ghouls, whilst clearing rubbish on the beach and dancing to tunes.

Prizes are up for grabs for best costumes and the organisers are encouraging people to ‘up cycle and buy second hand as much as possible when putting costumes together’.

They said:

“The less we buy new, the less rubbish we create later!”

Last year over 130 people attended the Hallowclean and removed 350kg of litter from the beach while dancing to spooky classics like Thriller and Monster Mash.

Organisers said:

“To collect your headphones and litter grabbers, and head out to the shingle to boogie and clean for as long as you like.

“As usual our three channels of banging tunes will keep you motivated and your dancing feet will keep you warm!”

The event is open to all ages and Pier 2 Pier said:

“It’s a great opportunity to entertain the kids while teaching them about reducing plastic in the seas for the future generation.

“Each year eight million tons of plastic are dumped into the ocean.

“Each year these plastics kill one million seabirds and 100,000 marine mammals.

“You can make a difference as an individual and together as a movement.”

People will need to bring their own reusable bag for collecting litter and a refundable £5 deposit or ID/bank card is required for headphones.
