London girl group Stooshe are set to perform at the first Hastings Pride festival in August.
The pop trio from London are best known for their hit songs ‘Blackheart’ and ‘Love Me’.
They made the UK charts in 2012, and were previously nominated for Best Newcomer for the MOBO awards as well as Best Group and Best Breakthrough.
Natasha Scott from Hastings Pride said:
“This year was always about taking it to the next level for us after the launch last year and securing such a high-profile name I think really shows our intentions to do that now.
“We’re very fortunate that they actually got in contact with us because they heard what we were doing, and after a series of conversations with them it just seemed like it’s going to be a really good thing for both of us.”
The festival is based on celebrating diversity, and this year the theme is ‘Summer of Love’.
According to Natasha, music acts at the event will play songs from the 1960s in tribute to the theme.
“For me it’s important now [more than] ever that we actually start coming together and actually start looking beyond our differences and actually celebrating those differences because ultimately we’re all human beings.”
The event takes place on Sunday, August 27.
