Police are still attempting to trace the driver of a lorry which passed moments before a serious collision involving a pedestrian and car in Worthing.

It took place in Broadwater Road around midday yesterday (Thursday, 25), and involved a Peugeot, which collided with a 48-year-old local man crossing the road.

The man was flown by air ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

Police said he is in a serious condition.

Sergeant Alan Spicer of the roads policing unit said:

“We are particularly keen to trace the lorry driver who may have seen the collision.

“We ask that he get in touch with us.”

The lorry has been described as a Mercedes Actros, and has a white cab and blue curtained sides.
