Police have said a homeowner in Worthing is lucky to not have any serious injuries after he was sprayed in the face during an aggravated burglary at his flat.
The victim was working at home at a flat in Browning Road when he noticed a man entering his living room.
When spotted, the victim was sprayed in the face, with a substance believed to be pepper spray.
Officers received a call about the break-in around 1.15pm on Friday, February 2.
Detective Constable Chris Bishop said:
“This was a very alarming and distressing situation, and the victim is lucky to have not sustained any serious injuries.
“We believe the suspect may have climbed up the side of the property to gain access.”
Officers said nothing was stolen.
An e-fit of a man police want to talk to has been released.
He has been described as a mixed race man, 5’7″ tall, and with dark short hair.
He was wearing a dark blue jacket, a scarf covering the majority of his face, and he was carrying a rucksack.
