A Sussex Police officer has been sacked after he was found to be advertising himself for sexual services for payment on an adult website, while being off sick from work at the same time.
DC Richard Holder, 41, formerly based in Eastbourne, had been on long-term sick leave since February last year.
In that time, police said he had used his home address for the purposes of sexual services for payment, through his account on an adult website.
He had also arranged a number of sexual encounters for payment to him and another person.
Detective Inspector Nick Wainwright, of Sussex Police’s Professional Standards Department, said:
“Police officers must behave in a manner that does not discredit the police service or undermine public confidence, whether on or off duty.
“Ex-DC Holder, who was on long-term sick leave, was offering himself as being available to perform sexual services for payment, which is clearly completely out of keeping with his role that others uphold with pride, integrity and with the trust of the public whom they serve.”
DC Holder was immediately suspended from duty on August 31 last year when the allegations were first reported.
He had resigned from the force last month, and did not attend the public gross misconduct hearing held yesterday (Monday, 9).
