Police are looking for a man who carried out an early morning robbery at a Co-op in Haywards Heath.

The incident happened just after 6am on September, 25 while staff were preparing to open the shop in Middle Village, Bolnore.

A Sussex police spokesperson said:

“One of the staff members went to the exit at the rear of the shop and was confronted by the suspect who made her take to the safe from which he took £2,000 before leaving through the rear exit.”

The staff member was unhurt but was left very shaken by the experience, according to officers.

Police describe the suspect as wearing a dark hoody with his hood up, a black full face balaclava, black trousers and white trainers.

He was carrying a bag which is believed to be brown.

Detective Constable Adam Tidy added:

“We are appealing for anyone who may have seen someone acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the incident.”
