Staff at a store in Tangmere, near Chichester, have been left ‘very shaken’ following an armed robbery.

A man entered Co-op in Malcolm Road shortly after 10pm last night (Tuesday, 8).

He threatened staff with a knife and stole money from the till before he fled.

His face was covered and he was described wearing a light blue coloured hoodie, grey jogging bottoms, black trainers and gloves.

Detective Sergeant Graham Leaney said:

“This happened late in the evening when the suspect knew there would be limited people around.

“The staff have, understandably, been left very shaken by this incident and support is being provided.

“We would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the suspect either entering or leaving the store.”

Anyone with any information is asked to report it online or call 101, quoting serial 1298 of 08/01.
