A bomb disposal team was called to Medmerry Beach, Selsey on Friday (February 8) to carry out a controlled explosion after ordnance was found.

The controlled explosion was carried out by the Royal Navy Bomb Disposal Team.

A spokesperson for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said:

“Ordnance comes in all shapes and sizes if you come across any ordnance or anything you’re not sure of on the beach, do not touch it and call 999 and ask for the Coastguard straight away.”
