Day 2 proved Tenerife is so much more than the sun, sea and sangria it is sometimes reputed for.

This Canarian island has many secrets up its sleeve and among them is the fact it is home to some of the most luxurious resorts in Europe.

On the list is the sensational Gran Melia Palacio de Isora, a hotel which really has to be seen to be believed.

The incredible base for our live broadcasts, this hotel boasts Europe’s largest infinity pool and decadent hotel decor like I have never seen before.

It truly is pure perfection, a holidaymaker’s dream and just one of many high-end hotels Tenerife has to offer.

Once we had prised ourselves away from the pool and panoramic views of Tenerife’s turquoise sea, our next trip awaited us, in the form of Mount Teide – the world’s third highest volcano sitting proudly 3,718m above the sea.

Our trip took us on a breathtaking journey above the clouds and through the spectacular rugged landscape of Teide National Park, a natural phenomena visited by more than three million visitors each year – and you can understand why.

Mount Teide is the spectacular centrepiece of it all and, without doubt, one to tick off your bucketlist.

After a fleeting visit to the pretty town of La Orotava, which has been declared a Historic-Artistic site, we settled down for dinner at the rustic Casa del Vino Wine Museum in El Sauzal for an evening of first-class food and wine.

Tune into MORE Radio’s live broadcast from Tenerife today to find out how you can win a luxury holiday for two, thanks to our friends at Tenerife Tourism Corporation and British Airways.

Come back tomorrow to read about our third day in paradise!
