A plus-size model from Littlehampton, who has been named Miss Sussex Curve 2019, is raising awareness about body image.

Alisha Cesa recently won the title and will be taking part in the national finals in Maidstone on Saturday, August 24.

The 21-year-old said she wanted to share her story and try to help others feel more positive about their body.

She said:

“You don’t need to conform to society – you are individual.

“You should love your stretch marks, your thunder thighs, your belly, your bingo wings because they are part of who you are and that’s what makes you you.”

Alisha said she has always suffered as a result of bullying, which started when she was in school.

She said she was subjected to name calling, online abuse and sometimes physical abuse due to her being plus-size.

Now, Alisha will be representing the county at the Miss British Beauty Curve national finals.

She said:

“I’m more confident and excited to get up on that stage and show my body to everyone.

“I want to show that it’s okay to have curves and it’s okay to have a bit of a tummy.”
