Sussex police have a mystery on their hands after three miles of orange twine was found stretched along the A27.

Officers say it took almost two hours to safely recover the material from the stretch between Lewes and Firle in East Sussex yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, 18).

Sergeant Richard Hobbs took to Twitter to say:

“No two days are the same in this job!

“Sorry for the delays but no one wants this caught up in their wheels, especially on a motorbike.”

It is not yet known how the mystery twine found its way to the busy road.
