A large section of the A27 has been closed following a crash this morning (Monday, 19).

Police have shut the road from its junction with the A259 (Emsworth) to the A259 (Chichester).
Highways England has warned of delays of more than an hour covering several miles of the eastbound carriageway.
While Sussex Roads Police have urged people to seek alternative routes.

A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service told More Radio crews from Chichester and Hampshire worked to extradite one person from a vehicle following a call out to the A27 shortly before 7am.

Both lanes have now reopened, according to Chichester Police, who say the vehicle involved left the carriageway due to a mechanical failure.
