Four teenagers have been arrested after police seized a hammer and knife while deployed at the Eastbourne International Airshow.

A member of the public alerted police to a group of youths acting suspiciously under Eastbourne Pier at around 5.30pm yesterday (Sunday, 18).

After locating the group, police carried out a person and bag search and seized a kitchen knife and hammer.

Four boys, aged between 13 and 15, have been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

Police said two others received words of advice and were removed from the area under Section 35 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

No members of the public threatened by the group, and no injuries relating to this matter were reported, according to officers.
