Man struck unconscious and robbed in Crawley Memorial Gardens

A man, aged 40, has been arrested following the serious assault of a woman in her home in Eastbourne.

The 41-year-old woman sustained serious facial injuries in the early hours of October 22.

Police said the previous evening (October, 21) a passer-by intervened and expressed concern about a man’s behaviour towards her.

It happened at around 8.15pm near the junction of Seaside and Ceylon Place.

The suspect has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, criminal damage and theft of a motor vehicle.

Officers would like to hear from the passer-by, who is described as a man with long shoulder length blond hair and was wearing jeans and a hooded top.

DC Julian Harris said:

“If you were the man who kindly intervened, or if you know who he is, please get in touch with us.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting serial 168 of 22/10.
