Elderly man seriously assaulted following alleged ‘road rage’ incident in Littlehampton

An 18-year-old man has been arrested following a serious assault in Littlehampton.

Police responded to reports of an attack on a 75-year-old man in Maltravers Road on December 19.

The victim was reportedly punched in the face four times, and suffered a fractured eye socket.

Officers believe it followed an earlier ‘road rage’ incident on the roundabout that joins the road with Fitzalan Road, between the drivers of a red Hyundai car and a Yamaha 125cc motorbike.

An Arundel man was detained on suspicion of assault, driving a vehicle without insurance and driving a vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

Police released him under investigation.
