Man charged in connection with house burglary in Worthing

Police have charged a man and arrested a second in connection with a house burglary in Worthing.

Officers were alerted by a member of the public to two people being inside a property in Aglaia Road, in the town, shortly after 2am on Monday morning (January, 6).

Police said an area search was carried out and two men were later detained.

Melachi East, 20, of Cunningham Gardens, Bognor, was charged with burglary dwelling with intent to steal, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and possession of a knife blade or sharp pointed article in a public place.

Mr East was remanded in custody to appear before Worthing Magistrates’ Court on February 4.

A 20-year-old man from Worthing, arrested on suspicion of burglary dwelling and theft, was released on police bail until February 3.
