Officers said David Cairns, 68, of Church Street, disappeared on October 26, when he was last seen having dropped his car off for repairs at a garage on the Lawson Hunt Industrial Park.

David’s body was found in a field beside a path linking Sargent Way and Old Wickhurst Lane, Broadbridge Heath, by a member of the public who walking nearby shortly before 3.30pm on Thursday (January, 16).

While he has not been formally identified, police are confident that it is David, and his family have been informed.

Police said there are no suspicious circumstances and the death is currently being treated as unexplained.

The matter has been passed to the coroner’s office.
