A person has died after being struck by a train between London Victoria and Gatwick Airport this morning (Thursday, 19).
British Transport Police said they were called to East Croydon station at 9am following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Paramedics also attended, but the person died at the scene, and officers are now working to identify them and inform their family.
As a result, severe disruption is reported on railway lines across Sussex today.

Southern Rail said services may be cancelled, significantly delayed, revised to call at different stations, or terminated, while East Croydon is not being served.
Tickets are being accepted on Metrobus, Stagecoach and Brighton & Hove Buses at this time.
Police said the incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
