Kayakers in difficulty near Seaford Head prompted a response from Eastbourne’s lifeboat yesterday (Tuesday).

The RNLI’s ALB (All-Weather Lifeboat), along with Newhaven Coastguard, was called to locate and extract the three paddlers shortly after 6pm.

In a post on Newhaven Coastguard’s Facebook page, those taking part in watersports have been urged to plan properly for their trip:

“When planning a sea kayak trip please make sure you have the correct clothing and equipment for safety.

“In a coastal emergency dial 999 Coastguard.”
