Feb 10th 2025 marks the 200th anniversary of the paper read to the Royal Society on the discovery and naming of Iguanodon by Gideon Mantell. The paper was read on 10 February 1825 for Mantell by friend Davies Gilbert MP for Eastbourne who was a Fellow of the Royal Society and later President from 1827 to 1830. The paper describes the finding of one unusual tooth near Cuckfield in Sussex around 1822.
