Sex and the City fans are in for a treat as Kim Cattrall is set to reprise her role as Samantha Jones in the hit sitcom's spin-off 'And Just Like That'.
"Secret's out!!," the official "And Just Like That..." Twitter account said on Wednesday.
It confirmed that Cattrall would be back to take on her Sex and the City role in the second season of the Max show.
The star is set to appear in only one scene, and according to sources, Cattrall shot her dialogue on 22 March in New York City, without seeing or speaking with the stars of the series - including Sarah Jessica Parker.
In the first season of the show, Carrie contacted Samantha via text message, and in the finale, the two made a plan to see each other to make amends.
Between 1998 to 2004, Cattrall played PR executive Samantha for six series of Sex and the City.
Season Two of And Just Like That... will premiere on 22 June and will also see the return of John Corbett as Aidan Shaw and Candice Bergen as Enid Frick.
What is the feud about?
Cattrall has not been a part of the revival series and publicly said she was done with the show amid an alleged feud with star Parker.
In 2018 Cattrall put out an Instagram post after announcing the death of her brother Christopher Cattrall.
The post said:
"I don't need your love or support at this tragic time @SarahJessicaParker."
"My Mom asked me today 'when will that @SarahJessicaParker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?'
"Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now.
"Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven't already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I'm writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your 'nice girl' persona."
In 2022, Cattrall also told Variety she wasn't asked to join And Just Like That..., adding she was also ready to bid farewell to Samantha after filming Sex and the City 2 because her character was not progressing.
Later that year, Parker said Cattrall was never approached for the HBO reboot as she opened up about the rift in their relationship.
In 2017, speaking in an interview with Piers Morgan, Cattrall addressed the tension between her and Parker:
"I think she could've been nicer," she said.
"I really think she could've been nicer. I don't know what her issue is."
When the spin-off show was announced, Parker said of Cattrall's absence:
"We did not ask her to be part of this because she made it clear that that wasn't something she wanted to pursue, and it no longer felt comfortable for us, and so it didn't occur to us," the 58-year-old told Hollywood Reporter.
And Just Like That premiered in December 2021 and became a major hit for HBO Max.
The show became the service's most-watched premiere to date.
