One of the stars of the hit game show The Traitors has said he wishes he could "say sorry" to the women he "hurt over the years".

Andrew Jenkins was one of the contestants on the second series of the show, hosted by Claudia Winkleman.

In 1999, at 21 years old, Mr Jenkins, from Talbot Green, in Wales, was involved in a serious car accident which left him in a coma for four weeks.

"For years and years I bottled things up, I didn't talk about [the accident]," he said in a discussion with son Morgan, released as part of a new Welsh government campaign.

"I'd get up in the morning, I'd hate getting out of bed, wish I wasn't here any more."

The 45-year-old said he "always thought people were going to cheat", which led to him "self-sabotaging everything".

He said:

"Looking back, it's awful. I should have worked on myself first before I jumped in a relationship."

Mr Jenkins said he had "hurt so many girls over the years".

"I wish I could say sorry to them, I wish I could change it," he added.

He said he was at one point engaged to one woman before leaving her.

Jenkins said: "That must have had a massive effect on her psychologically. It's horrendous."

Morgan, 23, suggested his father "sought validation in other people, mainly women".

Since his accident, The Traitors star has campaigned for positive mental health among young men.

He has now become one of the ambassadors of the Welsh government's Sound campaign, which aims to educate men about healthy behaviours and help end violence against women and domestic abuse.
