Five Fantasy Worlds We'd Love to See Become Theme Parks

Theme parks have long been the ultimate escape, transporting visitors to magical realms and immersive adventures. While franchises like Harry Potter and Star Wars have already found their way into our favourite amusement destinations, there are still many beloved fantasy worlds that remain untapped. Here are five incredible fantasy settings that deserve their own fully realized theme parks:

1. Wonderland (Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll)

While there have been a few zones and variations on parts of this topsy-turvy world, Wonderland’s bizarre and whimsical nature would make for an extraordinary full theme park in its own right. Visitors could navigate a labyrinthine Mad Hatter’s tea party, ride a Cheshire Cat coaster, or take part in a thrilling Queen of Hearts escape adventure. Optical illusions, puzzling attractions, and eccentric character interactions would make this park an unforgettable journey into the surreal.

2. The Lands of Westeros and Essos (Game of Thrones)

The brutal and breath-taking world of Westeros and Essos could make for an unparalleled immersive experience. Guests could walk through a life-sized King’s Landing, take part in a dragon flight simulator, or test their combat skills in a live-action tournament at Winterfell. A daring river ride through the ruins of Valyria or an eerie journey beyond the Wall would provide epic thrills for fans of the franchise.

3. Hyrule (The Legend of Zelda)

Few video game worlds are as rich and varied as Hyrule. A Legend of Zelda theme park could include real-life versions of Death Mountain, Kokiri Forest, and Hyrule Castle. Puzzle-based attractions inspired by the game’s dungeons, interactive swordplay experiences, and a thrilling horseback archery ride would make this park a dream for adventurers.

4. Narnia (The Chronicles of Narnia)

From the snowy lamplight entrance to the vast landscapes of Cair Paravel and the Stone Table, a Narnia theme park would be a fantasy lover’s paradise. Visitors could enter through a massive wardrobe into a wintry wonderland, encounter talking animals, and embark on a voyage aboard the Dawn Treader. A ride featuring the battle against the White Witch’s forces would be the perfect grand finale.

5. Middle-earth (The Lord of the Rings & The Hobbit)

You can't have a fantasy list without mentioning Middle-Earth. Imagine stepping into the rolling hills of the Shire, the towering majesty of Rivendell, or the dark depths of Mordor. A Middle-earth theme park could feature Hobbit hole dining experiences, Elven treehouse hotels, and thrilling rides through Moria and Mount Doom. An interactive battle attraction pitting guests against orcs would make this park an unforgettable adventure. And for now of course, you can visit all the filming locations!
