1. Born as William Michael Albert Broad: Before adopting the stage name "Billy Idol," the English singer was born William Michael Albert Broad on November 30, 1955, in Stanmore, Middlesex. His family then moved to Sussex, where he spent time growing up in Goring-by-Sea and attending school in Worthing. His stage name was reportedly inspired by a teacher's description of him as "idle" due to his rebellious nature.
