Anti-Lockdown Gatherings Planned Across Sussex Today (Sunday 28)

A number of anti-lockdown gatherings have been publicised to be taking place across Sussex today (Sunday 28)

A Stand in the Park claims it's events are not protests.

On Facebook, the page says "We are simply making a stand, together, in yellow."

The group claims to stand for 'personal truth and freedom in unity'. It urges people to stand in parks in more than 130 locations over the UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand, every Sunday.

The page says "Rain, hail or shine. 10-11am. This is our line in the sand and we don not move." (Typo included.)

Around 6,498 people were following the page on March 27.

A graphic online suggests people will be gathering in locations across Chichester, Brighton, Crowborough, Hastings, Horsham, Lewes, Seaford and Selsey.

A spokesperson from Sussex Police said:

"Sussex Police is aware of a number of protests planned across the county on Sunday 28 March.

"Officers are conducting enquiries to establish the event organisers so contact can be made.

"Officers will continue to engage with people and keep explaining the Covid-19 restrictions which remain in place at this time and urge the public to carry on supporting us in our efforts to prevent the further spread of the virus.

"Public safety is, and always will be the police's top priority, and this hasn’t changed throughout our approach to the pandemic."
