Emergency services were called to Portslade last Saturday (Jan 1) following reports a woman was sprayed with a noxious substance.
Armed police and ambulance crews attended Brasslands Drive following the incident that happened at around 11am.
The woman was taken to hospital for treatment.
A man has since been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
