A police car chase in Lewes has ended in an arrest, after the vehicle being pursued was driven into a housing estate through its single exit and entry route.
According to Sussex Police, officers on patrol in the town on Monday night (August 17) spotted a car travelling at excess speed and signalled for it to stop.
It initially failed to do so and a car chase began soon after 9pm.
Officers followed the suspect vehicle onto the Landport Estate, which has a single public road as its exit and entrance.
Eventually, the vehicle stopped and both the driver and passenger were detained by police.
The driver failed a roadside DrugWipe, and a search of the car resulted in a small amount of cannabis being found and seized.
A 35-year-old man from Lewes was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving, dangerous driving, possession of cannabis, driving with no insurance and failing to stop when required by police.
At 11am on Tuesday morning (August 18), he remained in custody.
