Banned Biker Admits Causing Serious Injury To Cyclist In Bexhill Crash

A man has appeared in court and admitted causing serious injury to a cyclist in a crash in Bexhill as he rode a motorcycle while disqualified.

Reece Ripley, 21, unemployed, of no fixed address, appeared in custody at Brighton Magistrates' Court on Thursday June 3.

He faced a string of charges connected with his use of a vehicle, including causing serious injury by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by driving whilst disqualified, and driving with no insurance.

Police said he pleaded guilty to all the offences and was remanded in custody to appear at Lewes Crown Court on 1 July for sentencing.

Just after 10am on Tuesday 1 June, the 50-year-old cyclist and Ripley, who was riding a motorcycle, collided in De La Warr Parade, Bexhill, close to the junction with Sutton Place.

The cyclist was taken to hospital by air ambulance and was still in a serious condition on Friday morning, June 4.
